HVFD Trains with Capt. Tony Tricarico (FDNY Special Ops Ret.)
Saturday, 21 November 2009
Image

With the Rescue Squad nearing its long awaited in service date (before the end of the year) and department members refreshing their rope rescue training, we requested long time friend and father of Lt. Tristan Tricarico's expert instruction. Tony, a retired Captain from FDNY's Squad 252 and training guru was kind enough to take time out of his busy training schedule to teach HVFD members basic ropes and knots, mechanical advantage systems, low angle rescue techniques and repelling which included the use of personal "bail out" systems.

At the end of the day, everyone had a great time and learned some valuable skills. We would like to thank Tony for providing this significant training opportunity, MFRI for providing their rope trailer and Berwyn Heights VFD (Company 14) for providing a fill-in crew for the day. Stay tuned for more information on Rescue Squad 1.
