I noticed that you are searching for funding for a new firehouse, so are we. Our department along with the local 4-H counsel funded a representative to attend a 2 day seminar to learn how to apply for foundation grants.
We are in the process of applying for a grant at this time. Right now we are trying to raise money for new turnout gear.
Our department is quite small with only 18 volunteers, there are apporximately 3,500 residences in our district.

Congratulations for what must be the most amazing Fire Department site that I have ever seen!
I have bookmarked your site, and regularly show it to visitors and friends, as the facilities and equipment at your disposal are simply mind boggling.
I am a volunteer firefighter with the Narrogin Volunteer Fire & Rescue Service in Western Australia. We protect a regional population of approx. 12,000 people, however the town population is 5800. We average 100 calls per year (mainly grass & bush fires, with the odd property fire or vehicle rescue thrown in) and have a membership of 18 firefighters. Our apparatus is limited to a Mazda Light Pumper, Toyota Land Cruiser Light Tanker and Rescue Trailer - hardly the ideal machinery to do the job, but we make do - I'm sure you'll understand why I'm awe-struck by your machines :)

This is a great site. As i browse through various sites i do notice a lack of information about disaster preparedness and training of citizen volunteers. our department has started using the fema document sm 317. i would recommend it as a start, then tying the training into the local department and county plan.
