Comments: We here at Ban Avon are very sorry to hear about the incident that occurred on June 2nd., and would like to send our prayers out to Jeff an his family, and to the Hyattsville Volunteer Fire Department. We had a confined space rescue two weeks ago and two of our firefighters were transported to the hospital for heat related symptoms, and released that same night. There was a period of time while they were at the hospital where we did not know if they were alright or not, and that was tough for the members to focus on getting back in service right away. I never experienced something as serious as the June 2nd incident that you all went through, and hope that neither of our departments have to in the future. Wish everyone involved the best. Comments: Great page! When I started in the fire service, I was lucky enough to meet Randy Mantooth. Additionally, my district has two stations. Can you guess? Station 50 and 51. We recently built a new squad (quick attack) vehicle. Our committee was trying to decide which station to house the vehicle, and if it was assigned to station 50, it would have been called Squad 50. That's why every department has a chief. The new vehicle was assigned to Station 51 and is called "Squad 51" Thanks for the good web page! Pat
