A few members of the Hyattsville Bunk Room participated in the New York City Burn Foundation 5K run. After a hard week of work waxing the floors of the firehouse and washing and waxing the rigs for the open house, members from the bunk room made donations in order to run in the 5K race.

The crew from 1 ran amongst 20,000 people from all corners of the world and made a few connections with the London, England’s Fire Brigade. Members from the bunk room were also treated to great hospitality from FDNY 28 Truck and 69 Engine. Before and after the race the members got the opportunity to eat breakfast, ride the Truck on a few runs before going out to get dinner in the city. Special thanks go out to these brothers who without a doubt took care of us as if we were one of their own. Company 1’s crew is now trying to recuperate in preparation for next year’s race.
