At 0316 hours, RS1 was dispatched to the intersection of Adelphi Road and University Blvd. for one trapped and unresponsive. RS1 responded with 5 members and went to work on arrival.

Initially, the Squad crew began stabilizing the vehicle which proved to be a difficult task since the bed section of the truck was separated by the impact of the collision. The cab of the vehicle including the occupant was down an embankment on its side with the roof pinned against a concrete storm drain and a large tree. The vehicle was also sitting in almost a foot of mud. The crew worked with struts and cribbing to provide a solid base to begin dismantling the vehicle.

Once this was completed the roof of the vehicle was cut and a rams were used to push the bottom of the car off of the patient and roof. The patient was flown to Baltimore Shock Trauma by Trooper 8 and Medic 12. RS1 remained on scene cleaning mud off the equipment and assisting PGPD with lights for the investigation. RS1 cleared the scene at 0513 hours.
