At 2227 hours Engine 12 and Ambulance 19 were dispatched for a shooting with County Police at 3417 Toledo Terrace. While units were staging for County Police to secure the scene, multiple gun shots were heard coming from the apartment complex.

Units from 1 repositioned themselves in the rear of 3500 East West Highway for better cover as the Police units were getting taking fire. More than 50 police cars, an armored tank, and another armored vehicle arrived within minutes. The armored tank was used for ramming and removing windows and doors to the suspect's apartment.

Police tried negotiating with the suspect but after the suspect exited his apartment with gun in hand he was shot by County Police. The suspect was transported to a local trauma center where he later succumbed to his injuries. Units from Hyattsville cleared at 0400 hours.
