At 1623hrs Engine 12 and Squad 1 were dispatched for the apartment fire at 2718 Kirkwood Place in the HVFD's first due.

Units arrived to find smoke showing from the roof. While staffing was light for the Engine crew with two men, the crew laid out and pulled the 400ft attack line and stretched it to the 3rd floor, while the Squad opened up the 3rd floor ceiling and the vent hatch to the roof.

Crews found roof membrane on fire and began to open it up. Truck 9 arrived and went to work opening up the roof while the Engine Company extinguished the fire. Units from Company 1 cleared at 1717hrs.
