The HVFD is placed these new American LaFrance Samaritan ambulances in 2004. Our continued dedication to providing the
highest quality EMS care is embodied in these state of the art new units. Designated Ambulance 17 and Ambulance 19, the units will answer more than
2,300 calls for service each calendar year. Delivered in March and May 2004 respectively, the new units will help the HVFD continue a proud tradition
of service to the community for years to come.
With the combination of several neighboring stations, and the continued rise in demand for emergency care, the HVFD will likely see another record
year in 2004. These ambulances, purchased for $197,000 from Delmarva American LaFrance, represent a significant equipment and financial commitment by
the Hyattsville VFD to the community. These units were purchased entirely with volunteer funds - no tax money was used to buy these new units.
We need your help!
We don't look at the purchase of these units as a new expense. We view it as an ongoing partnership with the community. But we need your help to
continue to operate with the quality you've come to expect. We need members of our community to support our EMS program.
You can help the HVFD's EMS program in two ways:
- Donate: Every little bit helps! Your $50 donation will help us pay for these new ambulances. You can use checks, cash, and even credit cards
through PayPal for your donation.
- Volunteer: Ambulances don't drive themselves, and they can't help patients without skilled EMT's to ride them. If you have as little as 6 hours per week, you can make a huge difference in your community!
