House Fire in 13's Area
Just after 1600 hours, Truck 1 was alerted as second due truck to 54th Avenue for the house. Units arrived on scene with smoke showing from a 2 story vacant. Truck 1 arrived on scene moments after and split crews. The exterior crew threw multiple ladders and opened up the roof while the interior crew gained entry to division 2 by way of a ground ladder on side charlie. Crews went to work opening up and made quick work with the help of Company 9. Truck 1 was back in quarters just before 1700 hours.
RS1 on Water Rescue
At 0851 hours today, Squad 1 was dispatched to Piney Branch Rd and New Hampshire Ave for report of an individual in the water. E834 arrived on scene to confirm that there was an male suspect standing in about 2-3ft of water. Once the crew from Rescue Squad 1 arrived they found various anchor points and begin to set up multiple Z-rigs for the removal of the patient and the hauling of the stretcher up the icy hill. Rescue Squad 1 assisted TRT 22 with the removal of the individual to awaiting EMS crews. Patient was transported to nearby hospital with Medic 12. Rescue Squad 1 cleared at 0955 hours.
2-Alarm Fire at Storage Facility
Yesterday at 1332 hours, Truck 1 was dispatched to 3800 block of 64th Ave the Mini-U-Storage Facility. First arriving units reported heavy smoke and fire from multiple storage lockers. Command requested for a Fire Task Force which brought Truck 1 to the scene and soon after asked for the 2nd alarm. Truck 1 arrived on scene and began to open up and over haul the pile of junk that was stored in the lockers. Due to the junk that was packed from floor to ceiling the crews from Hyattsville and other companies did an extensive overhaul to get the hotspot. Truck 1 cleared at 16:45 hours.
