Monday, 26 July 2010

Around 1430 hours on July 24th, Station 1 was alerted to the reported house fire in the 6800 block of Chillum Manor Road. Truck 1 responded with 6 personnel as first due truck. PE844 went on scene with fire showing on side Charlie on all floors.

Upon arrival the crew split with the interior searching and opening up on the first floor assisting PE844. The exterior crew through ground ladders to sides A, B, and D. The exterior crew also performed ventilation, and forced entry into the Bravo exposure house to get occupants out because of radiant heat melting the siding off. After getting fresh scba cylinders the crew was redeployed to open up the second floor.

The truck remained on scene for over 4 hours because side charlie was involved in a gas fed fire before the meter. Washington Gas had to dig 2 trenches to find the line to clamp.

Then on July 26th heavy storms hit the PG county area. RS1 was dispatched on 14 calls in 3 hours which included removing occupants from various elevators in the first due because of power outages.
