The Hyattsville VFD's Zahari Tchopev and several other local EMS volunteers were featured prominantly in Friday's edition of The Diamondback, the independent student newspaper at the University of Maryland College Park about campus students who serve as volunteer EMTs in the communities surrounding the University.

Zahari, a senior neuroscience major, said he wasn't expecting his co-workers to become his brothers and sisters.

"I like helping people, and I thought it would be a fun way to get that clinical experience," Tchopev said. "But since I've been doing it, one thing I wasn't expecting was the brotherhood that I developed with the people there."

Members of the Chillum-Adelphi and Berwyn Heights departments were also included in the article.
