More than 250 people attended the HVFD's Benefit Concert, hosted by the Calvert House, on Friday night, January 26th, raising thousands of dollars to benefit the department.

Donations at the door raised almost $2,000, and additional donations came thanks to the restaurant donating 10% of its dining sales for the night to the HVFD.

The event was organized by HVFD Volunteer and local musician Jon Parsons, who wanted to help the department more before he moved to California this week for a new career. His sister, Kat Parsons, and other acts joined in, donating their talents to help the HVFD.

"Its moments like this that make me proud to be a part of the HVFD and give me the drive to continue to lead our volunteer organization," HVFD Chief Dave Hang said, wishing Jon the best of luck with his new move.

Several dozen members of the HVFD attended, along with over 200 members of the community, including Hyattsville Mayor Bill Gardiner, all of whom enjoyed more than three hours of great entertainment.
