Race Volunteers Needed Looking for a way to get involved on race day without running? Volunteers are needed to help with registration, act as course marshals and help at water stops. Volunteers will be needed from 6:15 am to 10:15 am. If you or your organization is interested, send your contact information to race@hvfd.com. The race is open to runners and walkers. You will need to maintain at least a 24-minute mile pace. The course will close at 10:15 am. We will kick off a day of family fun at the Hyattsville Volunteer Fire Department Fire Prevention Open House. The Open House, which begins immediately following the award ceremony, teaches kids and adults about fire safety through activities, displays and demos. We will also offer a Kids Fun Run at 11 am where kids can race firefighters on a short route on Belcrest Rd. For more Open House and Kids Fun Run details, visit hvfd.com. Easiest way to get here. The 8:15 a.m. start will allow you to arrive via Metro. The start/finish line is less than 1/4 mile from the Prince George’s Plaza station on the Green Line. The race will also feature a team challenge. Teams must consist of 3 or 4 members. The winning team will be the lowest combined time of the top 3 runners. All proceeds of the race will benefit the Hyattsville Volunteer Fire Department. On site registration is available on Friday, October 21 from 7-9 PM at the First United Methodist Church across from firehouse. Race day registration is available from 6:15 - 8 AM at the firehouse
