The Hyattsville Voluteer Fire Department is mourning the loss of past Fire Chief Harry Fiddesop, who served in the top position from 1968-69.

Fiddesop was still an active member of the St. Thomas Volunteer Fire Department in Pennsylvania at the time of his death.

During his tenure, Chief Fiddesop oversaw the closing of the HVFD's original fire station on Farragut Street in 1969, consolidating operations into the Belcrest Road station.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 17, at 11 a.m. A full fire department service is planned.

Unless weather intervenes, the Hyattsville VFD will be sending its ladder truck to participate in the services.
