Firefighter Burned in June 2 House Fire

Firefighter Jeff Shaw returns to full active duty today (Mon, Nov. 2), exactly 5 months to the day from his injury. Jeff was released by his doctor this morning. He has already obtained his new gear from the County and is currently at the firehouse waiting for his first call.

Last week Jeff's doctor allowed him to participate in a house burn drill in Pennsylvania. Jeff proved he is more than ready to go back in service. He demonstrated superior skills and enthusiasm during this drill.

Every single member should be proud of Jeff's return. We showed our true colors this year, and although it was a rough and tough road, we, as department, came together and forged forward. Between all of the support and prayer, Jeff is once again riding beside us.

It is truly a proud and happy day for the Hyattsville Volunteer Fire Department!
