Quick Extrication on B/W Parkway
Shortly after 5 am, units from Riverdale, Greenbelt and HVFD Rescue Squad 1 were dispatched for a vehicle accident on the Baltimore Washington Park (MD 295) northbound at the Capital Beltway.
A supplement to the call indicated one overturned. First arriving units reported a vehicle overturned with one trapped.
Squad 1 arrived to find a four-door sedan off the road approximately 20 feet down a small embankment in the median between the north and southbound lanes. A side removal was initiated, utilizing two Paratech struts to stabilize the vehicle as well as step chocks. Once the vehicle was stabilized, the Squad crew performed a vertical crush and door pop of the front passenger door.
The victim was removed from the vehicle and transported to an area hospital.
